Eon power board issue

Hello everyone! I hope I can find some guide / help regarding this.

I’ve had the Eon case for less than a year; despite an initial hiccup with the expansion board, everything was fine until two days ago when it suddenly it went off.

After discarding issues in the drives, the RPI itself (it powers on correctly when connected with the USB c connector) and the PSU I narrowed it down to the power board. I’m not certain which of its components is but right now:

  • i get continuity (shortcircuit) when testing between ground and 12v pins (same for the PSU connerctor)
  • when measuring resistance between those pins it prompts around 430 ohms

At some point I was able to measure the GPIO pins 2 and 4 that were having varying power between 0 to 5 volts (which I think was the reason why the RPI initally went off).

I’m wondering whether replacement can be purchased (as right now there’s no such option on the Argon Forty store) and/or there’s an schematic for the board available to attempt a repair… Unfortunately without the powerboard the case turns useless as, even I could plug it with the USB c directly (and prevent the power through GPIO), the drives won’t get powered :frowning:.

I checked some similar topics (this, this and this) but there’s no real insight from those. I can also provide a video that shows the shortcircuit, but I don’t think that would add much more to the discussion. And before starting to de-solder components and reverse engineering the board I’d like to have some better options.

Thanks in advance.

After a few days not having any feedback from this thread I contacted customer support and they were really helpful; in the end I got a replacement for the power board (with a really fast shipping, it took less than a week). I’ve just reassembled my EON with it and I’m back to normal and really happy .

A special mention to John that was in charge of my support case and was very kind and communicative throughout it.
