Argon One V3 nvme not recognized

Hi, does it worked?

Unfortunately, it did not work. Now I’m waiting for another NVME module to test if the PCIe port of my Pi is broken or not. The module should arrive in a few hours. I’ll update when i am done testing.

Update: I’ve got the Geekworm M400 module and it works just fine with my Pi. So it looks like there is a problem with the NVME module of the Argon One V3. But I will try another set of cables tomorrow.

Update 2: After another test with other cables I can say for sure, that the PCIe module of my Argon One V3 is dead. I have a question before I send the whole thing back. Is the ribbon cable used by Argon in this case a special one or is it a standard 16pin?

Hi this is absolutely insane, I’ve purchased a 980 pro 1tb because the forum says it will have no issues I have plugged it in and it doesn’t even show up. I have checked all connections they are good and are secure. I tried contacting support 1 week no response.

Yeah they are pretty slow. I claimed a replacement board before I send the whole case back.

What is the problem and will it be fixed? I’m still waiting to buy the SSD. I wanted to buy the 990 Pro and read here so often that it doesn’t work. I hope for a quick response and solution from Argon Team.

I have the same problem as @segabor. I’ve tried already 3 NVMe disks, and two of them are in the Compatibility list. No luck with Patriot P300 and Crucial P3 M.2. Everything is updated, scripts are installed, and the ribbon is connected correctly. It’s like no NVMe connected at all. Any ideas?

We are all out of idea :grimacing: still waiting for official support :weary:

If any of you are open to do a google meet for us to help you troubleshoot and for us to understand the problem, will be happy to schedule a video call for us to help.

Do you think it could help? It might worth a shot.

Probably worth trying

Does a 2TB SSD work on the Argon One V3 nvme? Samsung 990 Pro for example?

Hey guys,

I finally found the problem with my box! It was the SSD. All my tests were with the AData Legend 700 250GB SSD even though this SSD is on the compatibility list from @joseph.zapanta it doesn’t work with the box. Today I got a Lexar NM620 512GB SSD and this one works. Maybe it is an SSD size problem? Like with the Samsung 980 Pro 250GB?

I ordered Pimoroni NVMe Base to see does it recognises my NVMe drives or not, but so far no luck with Argon One V3 case
So, quick update, with Pimoroni NVMe base it’s working without any problems. So not sure what the problem with this case is

The only thing I could think of is power issue. The NVMe board contains no controller or any other unit. It just conveys power and provides PCIe connector. So if the ribbon cable is intact, I see no other option than missing current.

Have you tried an SSD that has no Phison controller? Most of the SSDs on the compatibility list from @joseph.zapanta have a Phison controller. The first SSD I tried from the list (AData Legend 700 250GB SSD) also had a Phison controller, so I tried the Lexar NM620 512GB SSD that has an MAP1202A-F1C controller and this one worked.

I tried with two kind of Kioxia products. Indeed one of them is having Phison but the other uses another type. Had no luck with either.
