Two different flat flex cables for M.2?

Hello, today i got my one v3 M.2 case. There are two different flat flex cables 06052024V2 and 03072024V1.3 which one i have to use to connect the M2? Are they different or the same? I havent found any informations about this two cables.

I was wondering the same thing.

I’m wondering if there are different PCI connections on different versions of the Raspberry Pi 5. I’m sure you’ve already done this by now, but the 1.3 version looks like the cable that worked on my RP5 so try that and if it works you have a spare. If not try the other one. The version 2 looks like it was changed to fit a deeper PCI connection - but I’ll wager both with probably work.

My Neo 5 NVME kit also came with these two cables. The documentation says nothing about two cables.

I went with the V2 cable only because 2 sounds newer than 1.3.

And I had a big problem: When I put the Neo 5 lid on, the NVME drive would lose connection to the RPi 5. No lid, no problem.

I removed the V2 cable and put in the V1.3 cable, and put the lid on. So far so good for the last nine hours. I’ll comment if the problem occurs again.

The lid has a tab near the flex cable. Instructions are not super clear, but there appears to be a hole in the non-lid part of the case the we’re supposed to route the flex cable through. When I route the flex cable through this hole, the lid’s tab presses on the the flex cable.

I considered avoiding the cable hole and routing the cable closer to the Pi board. But that would require a sharper bend in the cable, so I didn’t want to try it.

I wonder if this issue – the lid tab pressing on the flex cable – explains problems other users are having with their NVME drive.

It is very strange that no information about these two cables is provided, the instructions could be better!
On YouTube i have found a video with unpacking and installing the pi, there where two V1.3 cables, after i saw this short i used the V1.3 cable, no problems with my NVMe drive.
At 0:23 you can see the installed V1.3 cable.

I’ve been running over 36 hours with the V1.3 cable and the lid. No problems.
