Trouble with heat in Neo5 case

All the reports I see of the Neo V5 say how cool (temperature) it is…and I seem to recall mine started out that way.

Right now I’m running immich (google photos alternative) which has kept the system running flat out for more than a day:

You can see it’s throttling and the fan is flat out. After this I removed the top cover (as suggested by various folks doing thermal tests) …a little better (maybe) but still throttling. … feels like I’ve done something silly ? I assume most folks are getting low temperatures?

Please help check if the thermal pad is applied properly. The thermal pad come with plastic cover on both sides. Have to make sure that plastics are removed.

I have taken it apart several times and checked the Thermal Pads…it’s a bit of a faff due to the routing of the cable for the NVMe (the sockets are going to break eventually) . I’m interested if somebody has this exact enclosure , have they had any issues?

Also , is there a better solution than the supplied thermal pads? …better pads? Thermal paste? Anybody tried anything like that?
