Front USB ports

Hello, I’m new to this community and just received my Argon one V5 and have it up and running. After reading these posts about one of the full size HDMI ports not working and that I had the same problem 6 months later…hmmmm? Seems as though this might be a manufacturing problem. I will look into the ‘cold solder’ bit soon.

If you happen to read this could you help me out with another problem? My front USB ports do not work. I checked my config.txt (in the correct folder) and at the bottom it has the dtoverlay=dwc2, dr_mode=host but still no USB. FYI, I’m into PC’s but not coding. I started with RPi4 and 5 about a year ago. I’m making progress slowly. I used to build PC’s for 30 years as a hobby and part time business. Oh, I also tried to delete and replace that line but the error message that config.txt was write only. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, Ken

Hello,

Since this post I have resolved the issues I was having with the front USB ports and one of the HDMI ports. Also the issue with the adding of the dtoverlay=dwc2, dr_mode=host.

I checked all of the solder joints and did not find any cold solder spots. I dismantled the entire unit, Raspi and daughterboard. During the reassembly I scrutinized all contact points and was surprised to see that the micro HDMI and power connectors did not appear to be fully seated. I was skeptical about bearing down on them but was rewarded with an additional 1mm depth in connection.

Upon reloading the Raspi OS and setup everything on the case is now functional. So it turned out to be an assembly error, although it had “felt” as though the parts had seated the first time. I noted that the two boards are now overlapped by about 1mm whereas before they were parallel with one another.

Problem solved, I’m quite pleased with the case and its workings.

Thank you to any and all who were interested in my post.
