Just consulting may issue on argon one M.2.
Noticed, the argon one always reboot when connecting HDMI cable. Is there anything I can do to resolve this issue? Thank you.
Hi @em22898,
the first thing you can do is deliver more information about the operating system and the components you are using.
Surely it’s not the best idea to disconnect/connect the HDMI during the system is running. It could depends on the operating system you are using if it’s hardened and tolerate that. Also the used components like your TV, monitor, or whatever you trying to connect via HDMI cable can make the different.
The bootloader of RPi and additional recent linux kernel versions trying to grab the EDID data from the display device during boot. This part is skipped if you connect the HDMI cable at a later point. Maybe the software you are using isn’t robust against that situation and throw an exception/segmentation fault which ends with a reboot.
You can also be out of luck in hardware, for example if
- RPi undervoltage, because of wrong/bad power supply
- your display device sends bad or incomplete EDID data
- grounding issues
- your Argon ONE case would have bad soldering points
